Impeccable Wood Carvings at the Royal Thai Handicraft Village

In-between our tour from Damnoen Saduak Floating Market and Samphran Elephant Ground and Crocodile Zoo, we dropped by the Royal Thai Handicraft Village. The art center showcases  a vast collection of wood carvings created by exceptionally talented Thai artists. From small to huge art works, Buddha images to elephant statues, tables to cabinets, every piece is hand-crafted brilliantly.

This was one my favorite. The picture says it all.

I personally think that Wood Carving is the most difficult form of visual art, in the sense that it is not easy to correct unexpected slips. Unlike in paintings or mosaics, where there are many possibilities for an artist to cover up or adjust any errors made.

For anyone who has appreciation for art and beauty (or even for those who doesn’t), take a visit to the Royal Thai Handicraft Village.  You will surely admire the creativity and perfection of each art work.
